Brooksville, FL based Composite Motors Inc manufactures a family of electric screw actuators or “electric cylinders”. These actuators are designed to be “drop in replacement” units for many standard hydraulic cylinders, particularly in applications where precision motion is required or where oil leaks and noisy pumps cannot be tolerated. Key advantages of these actuators stem from the unique qualities of CMI BLDC motors and Integral drivers. They are very compact and high powered for their respective size and weight; and are well suited for most industrial and commercial operating environments. The integral electronics power the motor and provide configurations to suit most applications, including servo positioning, multi axis networking, RS-485 or CAN bus communications. The brute force mechanical half of the actuator is composed of rugged gears, including CMI made planetary and spur gears, and a precision Acme screw.
